Big PianoSquall Forum Meet!!! Most current info in 1st post!
« on: December 12, 2004, 08:23:37 PM »
Hey guys,
So since quite a few of the forumites live on the east coast, I thought it'd be really cool to have a Piano Squall forum meet sometime!  The ideal location would be somewhere central to us all, which means...New York City!

I'm open to suggestions for activities, and time and meeting place, but here's what I'm thinking (EDIT: Information is current as of 1/9):

WHEN: Saturday, Jan 15, 2005, 10am (because we all have Martin Luther King Jr. Day off, right? Right?)
WHERE: New York! Meeting place will be the McDonald's by the 1,2,3,9 subway platform inside Penn Station.
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES: Dim sum.  Shopping for Chinese pastries and other assorted stuff. Central Park.  Pizza in the Village.  New Yorkers, add suggestions...

So let's work out the details in this thread - hope to see you all on Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

The following people have confirmed that they will be in attendance:
Sze
Mike
Venus
Kim
Mary
Wyvern
Angel
Jay (?)
Siefer
Mama Kurata
Captain Yaoi
My Xanga

PennYo - Chinese a capella at the University of Pennsylvania

We should eat at Amy Ruth's right on the corner of 116th. Force all yall to dine in the ghetto, it'll be the start of my long awaited project "Harlemcon."

This lunch does sounds like a cool idea though, hopefully they'll be interest in it.

Grrr....I think I have to be back in Boston by that time...it's like the first week of classes. If we made it even a week before, I could go.

And just start screaming, yeah? "HEY SZE! JAY! MARY! GUYS, I'M OVER HEEEEEERE!!! :::jumps up and down:::" You'd hear me, but so would the police. X_X

Chinatown is easy... just take the anything-train to Canal St. and work your way from there... lol

Hey, I've been to NYC exactly once (not counting the times I've driven through it on the highway on the way to Otakon) and I found China Town with no trouble what-so-ever! OH! And we have GOT to go to this great Chinese restaurant I found while I was there! The prices are cheap and the food....  =P~  Need I say more?

You just described half the restaurants down there :p

I won't lie, I've lived in this city practically all my life and I STILL get lost anywhere below 42nd street. But I'll just set out an hour earlier, and blindly wander until I find faces that look familiar.

Why don't we just meet right outside the entrance to the subway in china town? That way all we have to do is get off the subway and it'll be really easy to find everyone! ^__^

There are way more than just one Canal St. station... but I figure it'll still be easy because all we'll have to do is look for the non-Asian people (for the most part).

hmmm.. i don't know where  you live but i know that when i go to the city i just take the train... (only time i drove to the city the people i went with got their car broken into when we parked on the street... sooo.. yeah .. needless to say, i'm not a big fan of driving in the city..) but check trains or buses near your town :-)

anyway, umm meeting place in china town... if we decide mott st then we should probably pick a smaller st off it that we can meet at the corner of?? instead of a specific spot that there are millions of lol i mean i'm all for taking the subway, but i can't find a specific subway station lol

Chinatown has a few landmarks that are easy enough to find along canal street, giant billboard thing, bank that looks sorta like a library, mcdonalds. Good thing about canal it's a major street, so it's pretty easy to pick your direction and walk. Just make sure it's the right direction, ask a cop or a vendor.

Hey, let's meet by the river! "But Jay, how do we get to the river?" Easy, just choose a direction and walk! Har har har har har.
