You have found the other teen not motivated to learn how to drive. All of the people in my school are driving fantics (people at 15 are sneeking in to take the test to get their learners) except me and my close anime-loving friends and fellow smart people groups.

Haha, don't worry, I wasn't motivated at all back before I had my license. I was nervous as HELL. I didn't even want to practice and I was 17 before I got mine.

The thing is that those driving instructors and parents and the exam people looking over your shoulder the entire time are very nerve-wracking, but driving itself is GREAT. Once I got my license and could drive by myself, I felt so much better, and now I love to drive. ^_^ Freedom, my friends, freedom!! Trust me, once you get past the tests being able to drive is a wonderful thing.

I wasn't motivated to drive until this past summer, when I realized that my permit expires on my next birthday. And I'm 20.

I wasn't that motivated to learn to drive... until one of my friends, who was a year younger than me, was all "CARSCARSCARSCARS!!" so I was determined to beat him. Even though I was older, I didn't beat him by much because he decided to take Driver's Ed (it lets you drive at 17, not 18 in NYS) and I didn't.

But Ameria's right... the freedom that driving gives you is INCREDIBLE (if you have your own car). Zipping along the highways at 70, 75 MPH, getting anywhere you need to go in about 20 mintues... ah. Beautiful.

Ah... I can't wait till I become 18 (April, 18) so not too far off.
I'm 17 now, and swamped with college applications and standardized tests... T_T

YES! Hooray for the freeway! *high fives Venus* I looooove being able to drive fast for long periods of time without any stop signs or traffic lights. It makes for less obstacles to worry about. Not to mention it works well when playing my Initial D mix.^_^

That was one of my favorite parts about going to ConnectiCon over the summer... I was driving all by my lonesome, but it went by quickly. Hartford to Hollis (120 mi) in under 2 hours. ^_^v

Heh, I wouldn't mind driving alone, but it's so much better with friends! Especially when they pass me snacks so we all get sugar highs and start singing along to the anime CDs. XD

Ahh, driving is so much fun.  I wanted my license since I was about 6...and it helped that when I finally got my license, my dad had a kickass car - a '91 Honda Prelude.  It was small and zippy and had a moonroof and a stick shift - basically, a car that I loved but wouldn't get me in much trouble if I got in over my head.

However, I find freeway driving incredibly boring for long periods of time.  I drove a bunch during Spring Break with friends - getting through both of the Carolinas in 5 hours is awesome (average speed = 85 mph), but damn does it get boring, even with good music.  Luckily for me, the one time I drove with no one else in the car awake was through Georgia, where NPR is always within reception on I-95.  No better road trip companions than Click and Clack, I say.

I didn't get my license till I was 19. It's not that I was scared to drive or anything either. I just.. I dunno.... didn't care. I was like that in my teens. Nothing really excited me except anime and horses. Then I wanted my own truck and trailer so I could get my horse to shows without counting on other people. Course, then the gas prices went way up and I had to sell my truck since it only got like 14 miles per gallon. Very expensive to feed that thing.
