Forever Curse - Pre-Pre-Alpha Now ready!
« on: November 03, 2003, 01:48:12 AM »
Although this is a very limited release meaning I'm only going to supply you with the Client if you actually ask on this forum for it I will put up what you will need to run the client.  Either tomorrow or Tuesday.
"Yeah I remember this one, this is where the Coyote sat his ass down in a sling shot and strapped himself to an acme rocket, is that what we are doing here?"

"Rockhound,"

"No, no really because it didn't work out to well for the Coyote!"

Although I am not releasing a version of The Forever Curse on FanPlay yet I figured I would give everyone a heads up to what thye will need in at least the Pre-Alpha and Alpha testing stage.  After that I may turn it into an *.exe.

At any rate the first thing you need to download from Sun is the SDK, to do this click:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Once here you should download Windows Offline Installation SDK (for Windows Users) under Download J2SE v 1.4.2_02.  Now if you feel you may want to ever program in Java you can download the COBUNDLE instead if you do not already have an environment of choice.

Once you determined the correct download, and now you can type java in at a command prompt and gets it help due to your lack of parameters.  Well at any rate now you may now download Java 3D, as I explained earlier these two downloads are required to run The Forever Curse.  The Link to Java 3D:

http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/download.html

Once at this page you will notice a combo box to select the format of Java 3D you want to install.  You need to select: "Java 3D for Windows (OpenGL Version*) SDK for the JDK (includes Runtime)"

* - I tested the OpenGL Version; however, if you so desire you can use the DirectX Version, but be warned you are using at your own risk!

Alright well thats that.  I will post again when I have a version ready to release, which at present looks like 4 weeks so that means it will probably be 6 weeks.  I know how us programmers are.  8)
