You're quite right, Ameria! To be more specific, it must be purified so that she can defeat the demons with whom she is locked in combat inside the jewel. Tainted, evil energy makes the demons stronger. Pure energy makes her stronger.

Side note: Has anyone else noticed that the Shikon no Tama gets larger the more evil it absorbs and smaller the more purified it is? That leads me to believe there are two ways to get rid of the Shikon no Tama; use it to obtain ones' desires or purify it to the point that it disappears altogether.

I thought you wanted the less well-known job. I forgot that her waitress job was why she had Firia go. Although, had she gone herself, I think Lina would have run from her. Very very quickly!

And Faye would be an adorable little girl of ten (which doesn't make sense because there was that one episode where she was on the Beta tape, and she looked to be about ten, which would be right now... but Beta was dying when I was a kid, so... weird). Bebop takes place in 2071 and it's mentioned that Faye isn't twenty, as she appears, but rather 77, making her year of birth 1994.

Answer: Because when they were young and their family fell on hard times (the reason Luna originally got the waitressing job), Lina, in all her brilliance, decided to make her money by having people pay her to make images (the magically holographic kind) of Luna, frequently in the buff (nude). Yeah, so Luna found out and it got ugly. ALSO Luna is MUCH more powerful than Lina.
