I read the One Piece manga in Shonen Jump USA, which hasn't really gotten that far, it's around chapter 40 or something. But it's really good stuff! Sooner or later I'll get around to downloading it and then I'll just abandon the manga like I did with Naruto, in favor of my preferred form of entertainment: anime.

Speaking of the Fox Box dub, I think Tokyo Mew Mew will be seriously screwed up. I may have heard wrong, but they said Ichigo's name will be Zoe. Not that there's anything wrong with that name, it just doesn't have the same ness

Luffy's voice is all wrong.. T_T I mean I know no one can come close to Mayumi-sama's voice, but they picked a voice that's the furthest thing they could find. Luffy's seventeen! Maybe if they used the preview voice for 7-year-old Luffy then I wouldn't mind as much, but that's apparently his 17-year-old voice! x.x

I'm with you Ameria! I saw that horrible debacle of a dub preview myself and it is a scarey, scarey thing!! I can't believe what they did to Luffy-san's voice!! GAH!!!!! What's even worse is my friend, Ray, who showed me the bloody thing got me to watch it by telling me that the voices were astonishingly close to the original Japanese! That couldn't be farther from the truth! And he ACTUALLY believes what he said! GODS!!! I am sooooo annoyed with those voices! They're just ALL WRONG!!!!   I HATE FORKIDS!!!    I HATE THEM WITH A PASSION!!!! I'm boycotting the tv release! I'll get the ruddy dvds when they come out in the next few years. Those will be uncut and will have the Japanese as well as the crappy english dub (which I will NEVER watch) so I can watch it the way it was intended to be! They had BETTER NOT get ahold of Naruto or HEADS WILL ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a side note – and I’m speaking about Naruto as well as One Piece – I find it surprising that those shows became so popular when they’re not even licensed in the U.S.  You can’t watch them on TV, you can’t buy them at a video store – but more and more nowadays, anime is being obtained and viewed via computers.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's really amazing how popular Naruto and One Piece are even though they weren't licensed. But I think their popularity is mostly due to the fact that they've been running for... well, a really long time. They've been picking up more and more fans the whole time. And they have those long, drawn out shonen-esque story arcs, usually involving a lot of fighting and stuff, which are totally addictive. So once you start watching, you're hooked.

It can't hurt that both mangas have been licensed and are published here already. XD Though actually I got into OP and Naruto through the anime, which was (and in Naruto's case still is) being shown at the university Anime Night.

Yeah, that probably helped a lot. I was actually introduced to both of them through the manga, and then started downloading Naruto. One Piece is still on the (very long) list of anime I need to download sometime soon... (currently downloading: Geneshaft)

I've been downloading One Piece, Naruto, Inu Yasha and Chrono Crusade. I love fansubs. They open up shows to the US and build up a fanbase before they're even licensed! Then, when they are licensed, many of us will buy the DVDs since then we can have the full-quality eps! I still watch the fansubbed Inu Yasha, despite it being licensed, because it'll take forever for the US DVDs to catch up to where the show is in Japan. I still buy the DVDs as they come out, however. Most fansubs, while having pretty good footage quality, don't look as nice as the official DVD release. That and I like to support my anime. If we stop buying it, they might stop bringing it to the US and then where would we be? Mind you, I have nothing what-so-ever against fansubs.

I actually found the One Piece and Naruto Fansubbs long before I read the Manga....(I'm a Alien...0.o)

I'm with Graceria on supporting the American anime companies though. (Goes along with my dad's rules) If I downloaded at least a book of the manga or three episodes of the anime, and kept it (or downloaded more) Then I'll buy it once it comes out...Except Poke'mon and a few others that come in Dubb inly DVD's...They can go to hell...Muu...

I'll squishy those freaks for what they did to my Luffy and Tokyo Mew Mew  (ZOE? what the heck was wrong with her name? It's Card Captor Sakura all over >.< NOOOO!)

I should really get a job so that I can support the American companies more. I mean, right now I'm downloading like 20 different anime shows weekly, but I'm only gonna buy like 2 of them when they come out, because that's all I can really afford.
