American McGee's Alice
« on: July 26, 2004, 03:19:56 PM »
Well this subforum's been without action for over a month, so I figured I'd see who else had played this game. It's pretty much the only PC game I own. ^_^;;

So yeah, anyone like Alice? It came out quite a while back, I know, but even then I seemed to be the only one who'd played it at the time. u.u; A dark twist on Alice in Wonderland...I had to play it. I especially loved the unique weapons like the Jack Bombs and the Demon Dice. The voice acting wasn't half bad, either.

Anybody else have their take on it, or am I still the only one? ^_^;;

This was actually one of EA's biggest flops ever.  But despite the poor sales, the game actually received excellent reviews.

Yeah, I'd have to say that this game wasn't all that great. Graphic wise, sure...maybe. For its time. Gameplay and story were pretty bad. (sorry Mike...don't mean to down your companies games).  Even on hard, it was still rather easy. The one thing i did enjoy about it was the eerie sort of feeling it would give off, even as you were getting frustrated with the repetition or obvious blunders and puzzles.
:-D
I bought this game along with a game called "Clive Barker's The undying". I don't feel like writing any more negative comments in this post, so I'm not gonna talk about the game. lol
I don't usually sound like such a downer! Really!

Hehe, yeah.. Sometimes I got frustrated....but to be completely honest...I used a lot of the cheat codes. ^_^;;; I had too much fun with them. But with them I liked the gameplay, especially the end. I would go voicing out the Queen of Hearts's speech over and over.

"I rule Wonderland alone. Your interference will not be tolerated! This realm is for grown-ups. Raw, well-ordered, ruthless, careening on the jagged edge of reality. Self-pitying dreamers are not wanted here! They cannot survive here!"

my friend actually adores this game. For his birthday one year I got him the figurines for Alice and the Cheshire cat. I believe to this day it's STILL his computer desktop wall paper.

Haha, poor John. ^_^; I know the feeling.. I was at a part where you ride one of the huge leaves down the stream and have to jump to a certain spot before going over the waterfall. I went over that neverending fall a billion times before I finally got it...  XD

AMG's Alice was a fun concept, but had some lacking points.

Good - Cool story, characters, trippy world design

Bad- Controls iffy, characters were few, some areas did not balance out the game's dificulty.. the underwater part with that frog thing was WAY harder than most of the game.. at least for me.

Wish I still had it, used to have my own goth alice skin... in fat might still have it around somehwere, if anybody wants it.

I've only played parts of it on my boyfriends comp--but I went out and bought the Alice and Cheshire dolls..  Mainly because I love the cheshire cat--and him evil looking was awesome.

I did like what I've played though.
