I'm having a really hard time wording this. I mean, based solely off of music alone, what would be your favorite anime? Or something like that.
For me, it would either be Cowboy Bebop or Full Metal Alchemist. The music really makes both of those anime equal to their script content, to me.
Yoko Kanno composing and Mai Yamane singing the major songs like "Blue", "Don't Bother None", and "Gotta Knock a Little Harder" (title possibly incorrect) really bring a special element to the characters. Her husky voice works brilliantly with the gruff attitude of Spike, especially at the end episodes. Even the other songs not sung by Yamane work amazingly well. It's very distinct for me to hear a song and remember where it came from, especially "American Money", the Bountyhunter show's themesong. Or "LIVE in Baghdad" for the Hard Rock episode with the female space truckdriver (there's something you don't read everyday")
And Full Metal Alchemist's classic music adds so much drama to the show. Just listening to the music I get goosebumps. My favorite is "Taboo". Massive emotional swing when I listen to that song. It's so sad. "Favorite Daughter" is chipper and upbeat, the perfect song for Hughes. I think that Michiru Oshima created music rivalling that of a major Hollywood production. On both animes it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they spent just as much money on the soundtrack as they did the animation.
That make sense? Sorry if I'm being confusing.
