I agree with Goten, Manga is usually far more potent in character and plot delving.
Anime is good if you like to see things move to have them be believable (my Dad's like that).
It's Why (other than the Filler) I think Naruto worked better as anime. Especially because the fighting scemes were so well done.
I can only think of a hanndfu of examples where the anime worked better or made more sense than the manga (if the manga was dome first. There are several out there where it was done second. If it's made for anime, it almost always works out best that way) If it's made for manga format, it almost always works out best that way).

Death Note was just a little too over the top in the anime.
It's really funny to make writing look bad-ass.
Hilarious.
It really lends itself into manga format. It helps that because manga is 'written form' and Death Note is about 'writing stuff and death happening' I think it's that much more powerful.

Plus, you can't beat Obata's art and layouts. <3

...an audible Misa...*Shudder*

Naruto sans filler works very well since it's half action half storyline, the only problem I had with it is the inclusion of backstory in a compelling fight. *Cough*Naruto vs. Sasuke*Endcough*

no naruto filler is just plain bad. Fillers in general are plain bad, but naruto moreso because there is more of it and, unlike fillers for say One Piece, they don't advance the plotline whatsoever, plus they are just stupid as hell to begin with.

*Ahem*  I said "sans" filler.

Anyway, 2nd Death Note movie is out for download, I'll be buying this one as well.

Deathgod.org has it, or get it in parts via http://azfetec.blogspot.com/2007/03/death-note-last-name-dvdrip-subbed.html

After reading a few manga.. I tried convincing my mom to read it! XD She likes mysteries after all, well, at least British ones... I failed to convince her... maybe if they made a movie with a cast with English accents she'd buy it. Then again, probably not... oh well.

in all honesty you shouldn't watch the second live action it kinda ruins the series a bit

It combines several characters together, so it sorta ruins it, but not really...There's a lot more story and plot in the manga (of course) with more characters, outcomes, etc.

I really thought that fanservice rain scene that they added into the anime in episode 25 was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing!

My absolute FAVOURITE moment of the deathnote anime.... has gotta be... when light opens up the bag of chips and there is an action sequence.

oh yeah and this year for CTCON I'm going as L and Rhyus will be Ryuk and my sis will be Misa (We'll prob. get Murphy to do Light considering Tony's hair is curly and he's not a cosplayer kind of guy. Hold on I'm gonna go tell him)

And if everything goes rite the masquerade will be amazing

Liar I went as Misa and you went as Soda can man and Rhyus wore his dragoon cloak so im the only one that cosplayed from death note

Ive read up to 10 of the manga and i agree it was much better then the anime and the ending suited well

haven't watched all of the ovas and from this i almost don't want to since how much you guys are putting them down

For those who were not aware, the first episode of "Death Note" was aired last Saturday night on Cartoon Network.  And, wow, what a great start to the show.  Right away it shows you the realm of the shinigamis (yes, this time the death gods are called shinigamis rather than soul reapers).  Right away it shows you Light finding the death note and using it.  Right away it shows Light's meeting with Ryuk where Ryuk explains the shinigami world and Light explains his plans for the death note.  Yeah, that really started out fast.  I hope they'll be able to keep the interesting pieces of the story coming and continue to have a show that keeps my attention.

SIDE NOTE One of the oddities found in a Japanese show translated into English... Light's teacher speaks in English and then tells his student to translate that into English *chuckles*
