I love this series.  It's one that kept me wanting more, wanting to figure out what was going to happen next. 

Anyone else read/seen it?  How about the live action?

If you haven't, I definitely recommend it.  It's got a great storyline, superb character development, and amusing Shinigami.

hmm let's see I've read the first two manga (normal) read all 12 online watch and wait every day for new eps and saw the live action despite being badly subbed

i also think that the only reason i watch Code Geass is because it reminds me of Death Note (btw great series go watch it)

and only Ryuk is amusing the others kinda bore me

speaking of great series Nodame Cantabile is so awesome esp. if you loved Honey and Clover :p

oh yeah and this year for CCON I'm going as L and Rhyus will be Ryuk and my sis will be Misa (We'll prob. get Murphy to do Light considering tony's hair is curly and he's not a cosplayer kind of guy. Hold on I'm gonna go tell him)

And if everything goes rite the masquarade will be amazing

Yeah I saw a great DN group at NDK with a Light, Misa, Ryuk and L.  They amused me much.

And Shidoh amused me quite a bit since he tended to be a complete idiot. 

I shall check out all that ye mentioned.

Light is the King of Crazypants land.....

I love the artist, Takeshi Obata, and will pretty much read anything he does.
Ever.
No matter how nuttery.

I'm not sure what I think of Death note. I love it and hate it all at th same time.
I read the one-shot pilot he did years and years go, and I think i like it better than the serialization. Creepy, but not messing with my ethics too much.
I appreciate that death note forces you to face your ethics, but at the same time, it ends up being tiring to watch. You have to be in a certain mood to watch/read it, becasue it conjurs up so many feelings and inecurities, even if you don't realize it.

I read volume 1 and want to still read more...I sort of forgot how much I loved it until I read this thread.  :(

I love love love the manga.
I don't really like the anime.
And the movie was.. meh, okay.

I thought the ending suited the story.
The last panel of the manga was very chilling to me for some reason.

I think that's one of the best parts of it. I never have trouble watching it. Haven't read the manga yet, but am planning to eventually.

Well most anime never delves as much into thing as the manga or it ends up ending shorter. I can only name a few offhand that do.

There's some that I prefer in anime form, though, like Azumanga Daioh...I like the manga, but the anime is so much funnier.

When it comes to storylines like Death Note, it's best suited for manga format since it can go deeper into the storyline.
