I am sad to admit I still haven't beaten this game. I just got to a part where I had to fight this big rock statue and after I defeated it I went into the next area and got killed almost instantly. Arg, my least favorite part of games is training but it looks like i will have to if I ever want to see the ending.

Is it Vinuskar? If it is, take off all your metal armor(aka heavy armor) and replace them with non-metallic ones.
He will fall prey to a few quickenings, way too easy.

IMO, hardest boss to beat wasn't Yiazmat only Yiazmat, the Behemoth King, Zodiark(Darkja PWNZORS),and omega mark XII(or was it another number? can't rmb)

I have my up's and down's about the game.  It has a fantastic musical score, and the animation is beautifully renderred.  I love the battle system and the gambit system.  But...it really has nothing to hold me to it.  For me, a game has to have deep characters with backgrounds and what not.  FFXII just really never put any of that out there.  And tear-jerker love stories.

Sadly, I basically play only to level up and kill crap.  Another thing that bugged me...you're always poor.  Always...

(No, I haven't beaten it yet  >< )

I haven't beaten it yet either...I like it, but for some reason I'm playing other games over it right now.  =\

It's fun, I like everything it has to offer, but for some reason I'm not playing it much.

I agree with this totally. I like the way the game is set up and how the fighting is and everything, but the story never did draw me in that much really.

SE's idea for FFXII was to play a political theme on this one in terms of storyline. Not the regular
romance type thingy that most people are used to and the real understanding of they story requires
some real thinking(deep to be exact). Literature students anyone?

Hm, I am in need of some assistance of this game. I am currently at the Tomb where you are suppose to get some rare item? And I just recently got Quickenings... however, I am unaware on how to use those quickenings. Every once in a while I can get pretty high, and other times I can only get one attack from it. Any Tips? Because I can't seem to beat the guardian of the tomb (Not the bird or crushing wall, but the one after that).
Backup my hard drive? How do I put it in reverse?

I'd like to help, but I'm still in the beginning where those demon walls close in on you... Sorry

You need to kill the wall quickly, give that thing everything you've got before it crushes you.Spamming quickenings may be necessary too.

I really enjoyed the gameplay.  The battle system took a little getting used to, but once I did I found myself staying in an area for HOURS after I should have moved on.  Man, I'm always at least 20 levels above what is normal for an area.

I liked the Gambit system, too.  I liked being able to walk up to a monster, put the controller down, and watch my handiwork go at it.  Very nice  B-)

But...overall...the game didn't do anything for me.  It lacked the deep characters and the intimate relations between them that FF is famous for.  Except Balthier.  Balthier...love and win in a nutshell.  I mean, there are good characters, but it just didn't go in-depth enough for me.  I didn't feel as involved as I do with other FF's.

Not to say that I didn't like the political-based storyline of FFXII.  I did.  It wasn't what I was used to, but it was good in it's own ways.  I loved that XII made you THINK.  Usually its just go by whatever the prompts tell you...but with XII...it was deeper than that.  You had to think to get anywhere in the game, and you had to think harder to understand what was going on.  That was, I must admit, very nice.

I hate the battle system in this game. And the plot was very.. undeveloped in my opinion. And it's hell leveling up in that game.
Wonderful graphics and Balthier is gorgeous with that accent.
But that's all it had going for me.

I guess it was inevitable that SquareEnix would get away from a turn-based battle system.  I'm just disappointed that they basically ripped off of Summoner to do it.  Also, I was extremely disappointed in the story.  It was straight to the point with no plot twists or depth.  FFIV had more of a story than this one.  That's where I think Enix has somewhat corrupted Square.  Enix had this sort of problem with absolutely epic RPGs such as Brain Lord. *snicker*

At any rate, I love the music and the fact that they brought back terminology from both FFVI and Tactics.  The fact that this game could be a legitimate prequel to Tactics almost makes up for the fact that the story is lacking.  Also, to be honest, the fight with Gilgamesh pretty much saved the game for me. :D

This game was crack, I didnt want to be away from it any longer then i had to. I think I even missed a few days of work to play it.
Story was good and so was the fact that the random encounters were nowhere to be found! The gambit system was cool, the license system was a bit meh but over all many an hour had passed me by while i played this game
