Have you seen the guy who made Oblivion and Oathkeeper out of Legos?  Course, he can't smack anyone with it, but looks cooler than anything.  I don't remember the exact link, sorry...

There were quite a few KingdomHearts cosplayers at NDK. I'll have to get some of the pics up so you can see. (some key blade's were papermache and others were wood) Though I probably only ended up with one of KH. -_-

Mostly, I think it's all about where your (doesn't like using this term) talents are strongest.

Personally, I'm better at making accessories than costumes. Small stuff is my specialty, I guess. (like jewelry) But I want to make more weapons!!! (Honestly, some of the FF7Clouds that I took pics... I was drooling over their swords *heh* No, really.) I'm getting better with wire/metal... too bad I can't make a REAL sword to bring. *sniff*

Hey, Mayo. Find that link! ^_^ I'd like to see that!

I really think if you want a strong and sturdy keyblade, you might wanna go with the wood.

Lego FTW!

One of my friends is making a Keyblade, Cali; she's doing it out of wood (I don't know what kind, though). You might want to consider that, as someone had said. The right wood can be nice and sturdy, while being light and easy for you to wield.

Go the hardware store and the people who work there should be able to help you.  Tell them you are making a prop and show them a picture.

Yeah...wood is best bet cause most cons wont allow metals...I would agree going to the hardware store is the best idea. I remember going to my local one cause my friend and I wanted to make chainmail. Worked out pretty well too. Making one would be hard for me though...so once I get enough money...one day...far in the future,

I'm going here:

https://www.shop.morlockenterprises.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=68&categoryId=5

But I would get a commision instead, and have it made of metal...yes I know, no cons. But having a custom metal keyblade would be awesome!

Squee!!!!! Those LEGO keyblades are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But yeah, if I made something like that then it would have to be permanently glued or something. (always used to knock over her LEGOS)

...This is kind of random, but I went to a Halloween part and met these really nice people. One guy was a hobbit and the other was Inego Montoya!!! ALSO, the hobbit was married to Princess Peach!! Her costume was awesome! And heavy! 0.0 Her hair was killer... And me, well, I got shy at the last minute and wore a velvet cape over my FFLulu-inspired ensemble. Nope, no pics of me! Muahahahhaha!

actually V that's exactly what i did on Sunday, I got wood at the local art store that is really close to my heart! i love that store and wished i could work there. But anyway i desided to go with wood, they had all sorts of wood there, round ones that looked good for a keyblade, i got the second to the largest size they had, it was cheep too, and i got a flat bored, and then i got silver, blue and yellow paint for the handle.  You guys can tell me how i did cometime for anime boston, or ct con for most people.but i have Riku and an Axel for a masqu, so it's going to be really really good. Er i hope it'll be.
