Shimakon has informed me that they will not be able to program the concert this year.  Although the convention has been promoting the concert on their website for the last three months, they told me that they misplanned the budget and invited more guests than they were equipped to handle, so they have no choice but to "un-invite" me from the convention.

Because Shimakon has been promoting the concert while collecting your pre-registration money, I have requested that the convention offers a full refund to anyone who is disappointed by this announcement.  The owner of the convention agrees that this is the honorable thing to do, and she has promised me that she will return your money.  If you pre-registered for Shimakon to attend the concert, you can request a full refund at http://www.shimakon.com/contact.php

I'm so sad that I will not see you at Shimakon this year! :-(  After the A-Kon concert in June, I was really looking forward to another show in Texas.  Nevertheless, there are many conventions in the state, and I am certain that I will have the opportunity to perform for you again at a future event. ^_^

Aww... That sucks! I'm really sorry to hear that, there's really no excuse for promoting something for so long if they knew there was no way they were equipped for it in the first place, if that's even the true reason. Looks like Zack was psyched, too. *hugs for Zack*

*cries an ocean*

Edit, 9/13/06 3:55 AM: I...i dont know what to say...........I happen to know some of the staff on a personal basis but i would have never imagined this- Ive been to said Holiday Inn before-there IS room for a concert, just not within closed doors (i.e. a dining area) , anything larger than a studio piano would be nigh-impossible to accomodate the space....but still....*head exploding* Seeing Piano Squall at Shimakon was half the reason i wanted to go....the other half being supporting a convention near my hometown...but I dont know if i want to anymore....
I was planning on getting the ticket @ the door...but the plane, the time off from work, and now the fact that I wont see Piano Squall until likely next A-kon at least......!!!!
*continues crying*

Edit, 9/13/06 3:57 AM: P.S. Thanks, Ameria-chan. I really feel like i need a hug.

Note from Venus: Multiposting is a capital offense and you will now be caned by the other members of the forum. No, just kidding, but try to use the "Modify" button in the upper-righthand corner of your posts if you find you have something more to say. The thread will still show up as newly modified! ^_^

Shimakon has issued a detailed explanation of the situation:

The original organizers of Shimakon had arranged for quite a few guests to attend the convention. Now our convention is under new management, and unfortunately, we realize that we are not equipped to have Piano Squall perform at Shimakon 2006. This is not because he has asked for any type of performance fee; just the opposite, as he gives all of his proceeds to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Piano Squall lives in California, and we simply do not have the financial capability to get him here, nor do we have the necessary technical equipment to run the show.

Shimakon takes full responsibility for the cancellation of the Piano Squall concert. In our defense, the new managment of Shimakon did let him know that we would not be able to have him attend over one month prior to the convention, hoping that he would be able to fill in that particular weekend with another venue.

Piano Squall has been a musical guest at a number of the largest anime conventions in North America, including Otakon, A-Kon, and Sakura-con. We apologize to him, because he turned down an opportunity to perform elsewhere so that he could keep his commitment to us.

Piano Squall is concerned many of his fans may have pre-registered for Shimakon for the purpose of attending his concert, and he has requested that we offer a full refund to any Piano Squall fan who is disappointed by this announcement. If you are a Piano Squall fan and you registered for Shimakon to see his concert, please contact us for refund details.

We apologize to Piano Squall and the attendees of Shimakon, and we do hope to have Piano Squall back to perform next year. Nevertheless, we still have an awesome line up of voice actors at Shimakon, so there will still be a ton of cool stuff to see!

-Apology-
I am sorry for my irrational posts. I was a bit shocked to hear this news...and went
a bit overboard.

To Michael:
I am sorry, My comment was not meant to offend you in any way....i know you have a busy life outside of being Piano Squall
and Shimakon is not a venue of all-encompassing importance.
I apologize if i offended.

To Venus/other moderators
I apologize for my poor forum etiquette. I will keep in mind that particular function of the "modify" button in the case of future
 errors.

Summimasen.

There's nothing to apologize for Zack, I am just as disappointed as you are that there will not be a concert at Shimakon this year.  Every opportunity to perform is equally important to me.

This is the first time that a convention has cancelled a concert after promoting the event on their website, but there are many conventions in Texas, and I am certain that I will be back to perform for you at a future event.
