when i have the chance, i borrow from my school this thing called the Sony SoundScope, its great. i'm able to record using the on-board mic that the SoundScope has, and not only that, i can burn the recording directly to a CD...........this may seem a little too much, but i am a Music Technology major.........so considering what i really could stretch the limits to do, it isn't..........

I use a Karaoke revolution mic (Those things are pretty awesome, really) and cool Edit Pro for the actual recordy  bit.

...I  really should actually send some of this stuff in....

If you have the money for a studio I would suggest it.  This is the one we go to www.skylabstudios.com.  It is expensive though, 10 hours cost $400.  A cheaper way would be to get an 8-track recorder and just try it on that.  What instruments were you thinking about using?
