Rareware games, anyone?
« on: December 24, 2005, 01:27:34 AM »
The old Rare games from the N64 days, I think, had GREAT music.  I was just listening to music from Jet Force Gemini, and the tunes in that game are just amazing.

Perfect Dark had some great moments as well, and Banjo-Kazooie is just plain awesome :-)

Rare's games were near-perfect back in their N64 days, I think..great, great games to play even today.

Anyone else think so?   :P

THANK YOU!!!! You're the only other person who has ever talked about Jet Force Gemini. The music was amazing in that....also Banjo Kazooie. I wonder if there are OSTs....

I'm using the .usf files from JFG, and looking for a good .usf for Banjo-Kazooie.  Zophar.net has always been good for them, and it only requires a simple WinAmp plugin.

Also, I recently got an Xbox 360, and although the music (Other than the Badlands, which is great) isn't memorable yet at least, Kameo is old-school Rare, and I think it's a great game.

PDZ is, however, dissapointing..Perfect Dark also had some damn good music for it's time.  Blast Corps, who could forget some of those tunes :-D

...why did Rare have to leave Nintendo :-(

Sorry for the double post, but I'd actually just like to add that after being lucky enough to get an Xbox 360 a couple days before
Christmas, that Kameo: Elements of Power is an amazing game--truly worthy of the Rare name of old.  Some sites (IGN) have reviewed the game with mixed results, but I and many others consider it possibly better than Zelda.  (Blasphemy?  I think not.)

The soundtrack, which I have already ordered, is quite amazing in itself.  I recommend anyone who is lucky enough to get a 360 to go, and pick up this game!

I have PDZ, and it's..alright, but I don't really enjoy it nearly as much as the original PD.  Maybe it's just age catching up to me (I was, what, 12 when the first one came out?), but PDZ is kinda disappointing.  Still well-made, but..eh.

Original was awesome though, that's for sure :-)

Kameo's great, though.  Haven't played any of Rare's Xbox games, yet.  But I have high hopes that we'll see Banjo-Kazzoie again on the 360, especially because of all the Banjo-related themes and downloads in the marketplace.

Perfect Dark on the N64 was one of the best multiplayer games!

Well... I call it "best" because unlike goldeneye... I could actually survive in multiplayer... somehow O.o

Rare games are INCREDIBLE... they're my favorite on the N64.

I actually just pulled that out the other day... Perfect Dark is my all time favorite FPS on a console... idk why. Just is. XD

I also played DK64, and I forgot how much fun that was too!

<3video games.

Replying to an above quote...I HATE SEXBOX!!!! I also hate how Rare went to it. I agree.....

I mean its okay, but the Wii is just going to own all. Its utterly sweet. Ps3 is going to be for my Kingdom Hearts 3 and that all really (unless I hear of some REALLY good games soon)

Hey, what about Killer Instinct? that was by Rare....
The soundtrack to that game is still one of my favorites- it had such a variety of musical styles from
hip-hop to rock to techno....plus, the main theme is quite good, especially considering the instruments
they had to work with back in the day....
