Battle Royale

Started reading the manga a few weeks ago.
Just finished watching the movie.
Absolutely loved it.
Has anyone seen or read it?

I saw the movie... to me it was extremely sad and had me depressed for a couple days, but I really, really liked it. Very well made! Depressing, too, though. Yep.

The first one is about how mean people can be to each other.  The second one is about politics and terrorism.  Can't really compare the two.

I loved that movie. THe first one, anyway. I haven't seen the second. It was sad, but kind of amusing in a way. I don't know really how to explain that... I did love how the one teacher guy died at the end. I laughed so hard. Does that make me sadistic?

To those who liked the first battle royale movie I give you this warning

DON'T WATCH THE SEQUEL

The sequels plot is that Shuya has started a terrorist organization bent on getting back at the adults for their evil intentions. So the adults get the idea, why send adults to Shuya's island and fight him when we could send another batch of kids and kill (literally)  two birds with one stone. Except this time the kids are paired up and when your partner is killed your collar explodes. Sound Cool? Well it really isn't. They try to make a political statement (Maybe one about the terrorist attacks on America, I don't know there was two crumbling towers in the intro) but fails.

The sequel is nothing when compared to the original (But really which sequels are) If you insist on watching the second, I give you this piece of advice :Stop watching the movie once the collars start coming off because after that it is completely boring and drags on (The opposite of what battle royale is intended to be)

I read the book and loved it.  I really want to see the movie--though I have no desire to see the sequel.  I'm curious as to how much of the book is in it.

I liked both the book and the manga, The original movie however has been edited so it's hard to find an original copy anymore, if you see a scene where mitsuko (Age pushes a pedofile down a flight of stairs you know you have the original.

Yeah I found out hot topic sells a 3 disc battle royale set. I have to wonder if there is a 3rd sequel or whether the 3rd disc is just extra features.

I just got the first book of the Manga and I loved it.

I've seen the original (with the whole pedofile thing) my friend has it.

I don't really get why they censored the movie, I mean they really didn't show ANYTHING. Was there something in there I'm forgetting that caused the movie to become censored?

Oh another fun fact, Battle Royale the novel was on Stephen King's favorite top ten books list this past year

everything is eventually censored its how rating systems work.  Either way, amazing book, manga, and movie.  I had a great time with all 3.  As said before, don't watch the sequel... It will make you crave to kill the makers.  Either way.  Enjoy it!
