How many musicians do we have on the forums?  What instruments does everyone play, and how serious are they about it?  Like, just for fun, or recitals, etc.?  Also, what kind of music do you like to play?

I'm a musician ^^  -- I'm a high school percussionist, do stuff all the time really... band clinics, honor  bands, and lots of practice among the regular high school band stuff.  I like to play pretty much any kind of music since percussion is really broad.. I arrange final fantasy music for keyboards, been writing a percussion ensemble to "rhythm emotion" by two-step (GundamW), and pretty much just play whatever music I can get a hold of.

That's really cool, I wonder if you could present some arrangements to your band director and see if he'll agree to play some game music?  There is a group called the Delano School: http://www.geocities.com/delanodoofus/DHSband.html where the band director organizes lots of game concerts.  His name is Arnold Morrison and you can find a lot of his arrangements on NobuoUematsu.com

I play the guitar (6st and 7st), bass (4st and 5st), and drums (terribly). I play mainly rock styles. I'm pretty versitile in that sense. I mostly play pop-rock and metal... think along the lines of GreenDay, Deftones, and Mudvayne. I've played in a couple of bands, none of which worked out very well. The band I play in now is humor-metal. We're all completely insane and we take great pride in that.
What's the name of the song? EXPLOSIVO!

Well.... lessee... I'm a violinist, and a pianist, I've been playing both for about 17 years now, since I was five.  I'm a stronger pianist than violinist solo wise, but just the opposite orchestrally.  I arrange a lot of anime/video game music, and even more so now that the Otaku Orchestra is finally starting to move... ((still working on getting a doman, but the y!group works for now... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/otaku_ensemble/))  I'm currently a music teacher, and going for my masters in education. ^_^ Yups ^_^ and once I get out and get a job in a district, I plan on letting my students play some game/anime music arrangements. ^_^ That is if that's what they want to play. ^_^

Well... that's it for now, I'm gonna try to get back to posting on this board more. ^_^

No, actually I play Violin.... as for Tekkoshocon, I know that a few members might be going there, it seems that we're kinna split until Otakon ((That's where the majority of us seem to go)) other than that its a few members to seperate cons.

Heh, maybe you could tell me bit about music education animeangelblue. I am currently starting my first semester in the music school at Rutgers as a vocal performance major. I am having a horrible time deciding if I should stay there, or switch to education.

I went to Hofstra, and I know a lot of people that dual majored in ed and preformance becuase it was about a difference of 15 credits or so... they took their education classes over summer/winter sessions in order to be able to keep up with the preformance work over the regular semesters.

Honestly... I give anyone a lot of credit who'd do that, and the preformance majors as well... I get severe stage fright preforming alone, but I'm fine with others, if you wanna chat sometime, I'm ususally on aim at SugaredPixieStix ^_^

I play the piano (have been for the past 10 years), and I'm pretty serious about it. I don't practice a lot- unless you consider about 30 minutes per day a lot- but through experimentation and an EXCELLENT teacher, I've gained a pretty good level of ability. I've participated three times in NYSSMA, a statewide musical evaluation program, and performed on the hardest level possible getting an 'A' score each time. I've also accompanied for a jazz band and jazz choir, and played at various events like dinners. I am planning on playing at parties professionally next, as my teacher is moving soon, and is willing to give me his old gigs.

However, I would not want to pursue the piano as a career. I do enjoy it very much, I attend recitals, and like playing for other people, but I don't think I have the time needed to keep a full library of pieces in top shape. Right now, I am working on the Hungarian Rhapsody #2, and that is hard enough to maintain without having to worry about keeping the entire Sonata Pathetique and Rhapsody in Blue in good condition (both of which I've played, but now make a lot of mistakes on).

I've also played the tuba and flute before, and I know a little bit about guitar and drums. My knowledge of music theory and composition is average, but substantial enough that I'm able to compose basic original music. Right now, I foresee my musical future lying more in the realm of electronic music (which I am currently focused on) than piano, but I will undoubtedly do both. I would love to submit recordings of various vg/anime songs I bang out on the piano, also; prior to this site, there was no place for me to display them.

In terms of the kind of music I play; I like jazz and classical for the piano, focusing mainly on classical since it's most showy. However, I do enjoy playing game and anime tunes and putting a spin on them, and I'm a fan of a lot of Broadway and oldies music. Music I compose is entirely electronica in nature, such as dance, trance, drum and bass, and electro. However, recently I have attempted orchestral and ambient, and I think I might keep at it.

I play the piano ... I'm pretty serious about it but it all started as sort of a fun thing. Since I already knew how to sight read, it wasn't as big of a problem as it could have been ... Hmm probably four I'd say four years. I'm also a vocalist, and yes, I would consider that an instrument. :-p

It would be lovely if I could somehow incorperate both of these things into a song ... hehehe :: Should do Suteki Da Ne .. ::

=) hey, i kno u already know this but i figured i'd post anyways =). I'm a jazz trumpet player (no duh right? =P) here at rutgers =) err lets see, been playin 8 years, and i love it =) music is the best. I remember when ff7 came out =) i LOVED the music to it. It's part of what helped me decide i wanted to do music for the reat of my life, so i have a strong connection to video game music especially. I'm also a semi-anime junkie (I say semi cuz there are some classic series I haven't seen yet =P) and i like anime music more than most american music (cept the ONLY true american music, woot jazz). I could talk for days about this stuff so I'll stop now =P alright done with my first post =) peace out

Everyone seems to think I can play the piano, but I blatantly can't. I am much better at composing and arranging music than actually playing anything ^_^.

I'm a musician. ^^ I've been playing the piano for about 12 years. I play bascially anything, like classical, jazz, rock, J-pop, anime and videogame songs. I already did all 6 levels of NYSSMA. I perform at my school's various events, including International Night and coffeehouses. I also play the mallet percussion (and I'm starting to learn how to play the drums now). and I have done a few things with that, like the school's band and pit band for the musicals. I was also asked by a friend of mine to join his band who has a few gigs at a couple of places, but I really don't have thetime right now for it, maybe later hopefully. ^_^
