Northern Virginia Anime Anonymous is an anime club independant of any organizations such as schools.  It's just something we organize and run every month.  I'm the DVD-room coordinator.  I get to schedule all the stuff everyone saw two years ago in divx fansubs.  The club has already undergone a complete change in staff, so it's something that will survive as long as there is interest.

I started the anime club at my school too. Along with my friend Angie, we make up the Kaichous. It's actually one of the most popular clubs in the school. Yhe people in our club are so shy, and they're kind of uptight and trashtalkers at the same time. I'm glad I'm not with them. I've got my own group of otaku to hang around.  We're actually hosting a mini-con in late may. Complete with cosplay, cosplay performances, sushi, anime, and DDR! w00t for us! ~~John

My school HAD an anime club....last year. We had to fight for it too. A Vice principal lady at our shool was morally opposed to a "Cartoon Club" because it wouldn't do anything constructive for the community...that and it didn't raise money for the school. We had to beg and grovel for half a semester to get one. It was a disater. People, if they did come, just wanted to watch Yu-Gi-Oh or DBZ, and when we didn't show it, they'd complain about it. If they wanted to watch it, they shoud have brought it.
We ended up playing vidio games the whole time....buuut....three hours straight of watching other pople play CapCom VS SNK or some horrible one-player RPG....got really boring. I stopped goingand handed the treasurer position over to some Junior that skipped states with the money. About a month after I left, the club disbanded.  Honestly, I would've had more fun watching mold grow over the three-week-old cheese in my refrigerator.
Anyway, I've always wanted to start another one, and do things right. Like, y'know, taking in my baby-compy and fansubs and hooking the thing up to the T.V. and actually watching someting....not so...DBZ like...not that DBZ is THAT bad...in moderation.....like, an episode every three years or so...
But no....Vidio game geeks will come...as cool as they are, they have their OWN club...All the serious anime fans never came to the club last year. why would they come now? Instead....A IGO club is the answer.....forcefully drafting people....with chainsaws....and making them watch Hikaru no Go.....

DIIIE! DIIIIIIEEEEE! FINAAAAALS!
...
Sorry....That turned out to be longer....and more rant-like that it should've...it's the....um....stress....and deep rooted insecurities....
...*Cough*..... :roll:

Yeah, we actually started the Anime Club at our high school (we being Maester Seymour and myself). It took us a while and sometimes it looked really hopeless, but now it's a reality and in fact, we'll be holding another meeting this Thursday. I think the school's otaku (though they really don't express it) think of it as a godsent. It wasn't until Anime Club showed up that I really started noticing ppl show their otaku colors. Like, more ppl started wearing anime-themed shirts than usual and all that jazz. I was surpised that there was so much otaku, but at the same time equally surprised there was so much hate against us. I can't imagine why. Anyways, what do your clubs mostly consist of? Like, activity wise?

By the way, just to kind of have fun spreading this around. Last year, freshman year, I wrote "I AM ANIME...I AM FINAL FANTASY" on my bookbag and I kind of noticed it began to spread around. I think that's actually a pretty cool thing to see. Just, kinda hoping...would some of you do it too? I dunno, it'll be cool if it actually ended up becoming like THE anime slogan for some freakish reason.  nn;;

l>00l>! Total cool-ness! Happy dance!
WoW...Few people would have the guts to do that.
The current one is "FEAR OTAKU" with a big hand thing...both cool. One being feared, the other living as the fear...and yes...I'm totally aware that made no sense.

Even though we technically have an animation club at our university, "The Moving Picture Show" (wierd name for a club...), we really just all gather on Friday evenings for Anime Night.  :lol:

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Animated Perspectives!!!

My high school didn't have an anime club, but that's okay since I wasn't into anime then. My friends got me into it in college but it wasn't until I joined AP at Stony Brook that I really got into watching tons and tons of the junk I'd never even heard of.

If you don't have an anime club at your school, START ONE.
