What games have the best music?!?!

In my opinion, not to rain on anyone, but Golden sun, Dynasty Warriors and Final Fantasy 7. I love the Heavy Metal basis for most of the songs in Golden Sun, the Speed Metal thrown violently into Dynasty Warriors and the beauty and emotion put into Final Fantasy 7. (You might have noticed I spell out every game, letter for letter. Cunno, but it's a habit I can't seem to break...)

I don't know about the other games in the series, but;

Guilty Gear X2; Midnight Carnival...

 ...has the best music i've ever heard from a fighting game. I used it as an alarm clock for about a week a few weeks back and plan on doing it again in a week when school starts

Another game with great music is Voodoo Vince. The mansion level sounds like a track that didn't make it into a Malice Mizer album.

and of course Final Fantasy VI & VII need some recognition for greatness (although I'd give the Black Mages a bit more praise...and Michael of course, needs praise)

The music in the opening menu (Start a New Quest, Erase a Quest, etc.) of Dragon Warrior II.  It is the epitome of 8-bit joy.

Most definately Final Fantasy VII, X, Kingdom Hearts, the Zelda games, and I actually like the music from Devil May Cry.

Contra had good music, too. So does Animal Crossing. I'm not sure where to look, but I hope someday to load all of the K.K. Sliders onto an Ipod or something... Oooo, you know what?? Try playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Forest, Fire, or shadow temples To System of a Down or Pantera. It flows so freakin good...(drools over Heavy Metal, can't get enough)

my gawd, i remember "bubble bobble" it had the craziest music evar.... an' it was the same theme over an' over till you finnaly reached level 301 or something.

but it had the best puzzle, see, you had to get to level 294 an' get to a secret door, outherwise you keep looping levels 290 to 300.... it was insane!!! *do do do, do-do do do, do-do do dodo do!*

Wowee, looks like everybody's saying a different thing! With the exception of Final Fantasy VII, that is. It seems pretty much unanymous. I was glad to see none of my three fav'rites, though.. Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana. I'm so unique! Nyuk nyuk nyuk.. =P

I always thought FF8 had one of the better soundtracks--a lot different from traditional Final Fantasy, but it had an aura about it that really got me interested in it.

All FFs have good tunes in them, and many RPGs in general, too.  The Star Ocean series is one of my favorites, as well.

Star Ocean 2 music is gorgeous, even though I'm stuck in that game. Do you know what you're supposed to do when an enemy turns you into a statue? They did it to Claude and he can't fight and I can't cure him.. Ever happen to you?
