easiest/hardest rpg of all time

yeah, so i think the easiest rpg i've ever played was ff8. while its a good game, i killed ultemecia in like four turns. the hardest would probably be either fft or ff4. ff tactics had an easy final battle but a incredibly hard story line battles. final fantasy 4 was pretty much just hard the whole way through. im probably forgetting some rpg's and im gonna change my mind again real soon...

Hard? I'd definately say Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne was a difficult one, boss battles make or break you if you don't have the correct skills to survive.  i second FFT's difficulty, hoo boy...
Easy....hmm....no particular one stands out for me at the moment.

Easiest rpg EVER.

Yes, easier than Beyond the Beyond (the last boss took like 2 hours!!!)


Hardest??? Well, on his other thread I told Mellon Collie Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. (comeon, it at least wins most "do overs") But Nocturne and FFTactics are good choices. (FF4?? even the harder version... nah.)

Alundra.

I hated playing that game with a passion. (Yes, overall, I enjoyed it, but...) Hardest... jumps... EVER!!


So what criteria makes something hard, let alone the hardest??

For me, it's actually most frustrating. So, Alundra wins for most swear words used in one "sentence."


I know. I'm pretty pathetic... but after Alundra/Nocturne/BoF:DQ... everything seems beatable. Hence, why I tend to put off finishing some games.

The Reason I don't put Beyond the Beyond is because of that #^$#ing Tower of Arawn Puzzle and the ridiculously hard to figure out method of getting Loreli and Percy.

How might I ask FF8 be so easy?  I mean granted you only need so many things to win but unless you use a Walkthrough its not exactly like you can just fly through the game.  Or is there something I missed, please tell me what makes it so easy?  I think FF9 is the easiest I literally just went straight through the game play some chocobo Hot & Cold, but never really ahd to level just kept advancing.

Definitely voting for Nocturne.  Although I never played BoF Dragon Quarter myself, I HAVE heard of its legendary difficulty.  Still, I can't vouch from personal experience.

Wait, scratch that.  I'm going to say Unlimited SaGa was the most difficult RPG I've ever played.  *nods*  It really strips away the laws that govern most RPG game systems, so you've got to basically re-learn all the RPG rules.  Like, different concepts of "levelling-up," the fact that 0 HP doesn't mean death, etc...

Of the limited amount of RPG's I've played enough of to tell, I'd have to say the Magic Knight Rayearth game for...Some early Sega consol.... was reeeaaally easy.
Like...reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally easy.

And, if you have a lot of time, it’s not like Harvest moon makes you sweat...Ever....

As for Hard ones, I remember having an Ass of a time with Skies of Arcadia (I just...didn't get it NYAH) but it's probably just me...Damn Ship battles....I have to start over, as I’m stuck hopelessly.

But, as I tend to level up insanely, I’ve never had fighting problems, and I equally suck at all puzzles.

well ff9 i think is about equally as easy as ff8, so i should have put that as well. ff7 was a tiny bit harder. if you go along with the story of 8 and don't do any sidequests, its so easy that its sickening. maybe i just like leveling up but i don't remember ever getting stuck once.

hmmmm, that sounds really interesting. i remember renting it a long time ago, wasn't it the first ps2 game released by square enix? but anyway, yeah i don't remember liking it much at all. i think it got really bad reviews...

i would have to say that the easiest and hardest RPG for me are the same.
Legend of Dragoon. i went through that game and the bosses like they were nothing, i mean i had never treated an enemy like i treated some of the ones in this game, only because i was so strong........................ or so i thought. when i got to the final boss.............that alien.............beat me, and beat me, and beat me into submission. it almost seem like one of those battles that you are suppose to lose, and just move on to the next event, but it wasn't. i felt like a ant being burned by a magnifying glass and then reincarnated just to have it happen again and again. until one time i came back as a huge ant and crushed the person that was killed me so many times. that was true bliss.

OMG YES!!! Melbu Frahma is dihfisdhgjksdhgksdjg...

All my guys owned... and owned... and owned... and then... dead.

It's funny-- the first time I ever played it, Dart would always die, and I wouldn't revive him. So by the time I got to the last boss, Albert was level 60 something, Kondol was the same, and Dart was 22.

So.... Dart lvl 22 + The final dragoon = not effective...I got SOOOO MAD i deleted my file and started over...alll four discs...

Finally, I annihilated him without a problem...and I enjoyed the final FMV sequence...actually I enjoyed them all ^_^.

I have more trouble with the Divine Dragon's spirit then melbu Frahma, but then I was a heavy Meru user, rainbow breath is nice...and of course Albert rocks as well!

I love getting the last additions like Dart's and especially Albert's Flower (Blossom) Storm...it looks soooo freekin' cool! 8-)

was it just me or did anyone else have a problem with the addtion system for longer than it should have took in that game. i mean i loved the system but at the beginning and even a little in the middle i could not get it down the way i wanted to.
