Song of Ice and Fire Series
« on: December 07, 2003, 12:33:48 AM »
I would like to suggest the Song of Ice and Fire series starting with A Game of Thrones, by George R. R. Martin. Very realistic series in terms of mortality of important characters. He has been working on the fourth book for more than a year now, which is an example of how well written the intrigue and planning is in this series. A part of his style that I find intriguing is how each chapter he writes is from a different character's perspective. Keeps the novels fresh, and keeps you reading if one character's chapter ended in a cliffhanger!

Yes I know... I can't tell you how many times I've sped read through one of the Arya or Sansa chapters just to get to the next Jon Snow chapter... all those cliffhangers drove me nuts!

I'm a big fan of the series =P

That is a tough one. I would have to say that I really like the way Tyrion does things, so I respect him for that. And I like Jon Snow, because he is the protagonist of sorts.

Of course I like Jon Snow, but I liked Robb Stark too.  He was shaping up to be a pretty good ruler.

Tyrion definitely has his way of doing things :P

Danerys (sp?) is pretty cool too... it's really interesting to watch her development from a child to ruler...

I forgot so much of the series since the last book...I think it's time for a reread.
In the midst of the word he was trying to say,
In the midst of his laughter and glee,
He had softly and suddenly vanished away -- -
For the Snark was a Boojum, you see.

Yes, this can be very important with this series, as it is quite tightly knitted.
