These aren't shojo, but here are some manga I love that no one else seems to be into....

-Astro Boy
-Gamerz Heaven
-The First President of Japan
-The Kindaichi Case Files
-20th Century Boys
-Eagle
-Beet the Vandel Buster
-Eyeshield 21

Why can't I just read Dragon Ball like a normal person?  :P

Oooh, ooh, Duo-san!! You like Genbu Kaiden?! Another friend of mine is completely obsessed with it and has been making scanalations! You should talk to her. ^_^

Oh, and I think Petshop of Horrors is underrated. It is an AWESOME manga.

Dude, Those are some of My favorite titles up there!
You mean people underrate the goodness of  Kindaichi-ness and…. EYESHIELD?

HOOOOOOW?

I hate football, and Eyeshield is like...My favorite Sports Manga 9I’m hopelessly addicted to odd sportsmanga)...And then it became an Anime and I was like...
YEAH!

Of those you mentioned...Gamerz Heaven, is one of my current squishies,
Kindaichi is the only thing I WILL BUY, no matter what, even without money (the second it comes out, I'm already tearin' apart the box it's in from the employees hands)
Petshop of Horrors was the first manga I collected all the way through to date
Beet the Vandal Buster is my favorite Toriyama like-but not monster manga
And From Far Away is Shoujo that kept me happy through a Crab dip party. I hear numbah five just came out…..

I've read some of the others....

DUDE.
These are al great manga...But you're right…They really don't get much publicity...So sad....

As for tings to add to the list...

-Banana Fish (old...And really well balanced)
-Bow wow Wata (YAAAAY!)
-Yakitate Japan (So what if it's about bread? It's great! Yet to be licensed...'Cause they're bread discriminating...)
-Revenge of the Mouflon (sp? mmm...terrorism...)
-Qwan (I love Aki Shizumu....)
-Madara
-ZETMAN! (Yet to be licensed)
-Iron Wok Jan (Like...No one reads it...)
-Kazan (The WHEAT!)
-Lagoon Engine (the first one, not the newer one)
-Phoenix (Yay Tezuka!)
-Hands Off (0_o called ‘Off Your Hand’ in the Japanese version…)

And...

-XXX Holic, a lot of people get this one, because it's CLAMP or Tsubasa's counterpart, so it's not like...Un-popular.....But of the two (Tsubasa and XXX) it seems to be the least popular (given there's no anime for it) although...I must say...I enjoy it more.

There's a lot more, but I don't think as many people would like those....

I mean, I'm not Denying the goodness of Naruto, D.N. Angel, Fushigi Yuugi, Peach Girl, Trigun, Fruits Basket, or any of that (I DO love those titles)...It's just...Sometimes the smaller titles are just as good.
Although, I'm really not sure what counts as 'Underrated' like…Ones most people don't like...Or ones they haven’t heard of....

Of the new ones, I don't know what's popular ('cause I'm not there) But everyone better go read Kekkaishi RIGHT NOW, before I have to hurt you (I KNOW it's out).

If Kurogane (NOT PEACE MAKER KUROGANE....Just 'Kurogane') comes out, that's a good read (Who am I kidding?  It’s a great read). But I heard ADV halted or cancelled a lot of Projects, and it may have been one of them.
It was licensed almost three years ago, around the same time as Kagerou Nostalgia, but it never showed up (Kagerou's first volume did).
Anyway, Kurogane's street date is either about to happen or just did (Too lazy to check) but it may never come out.
Poo.

It’s been SO long since I’ve read non-scanslation manga (It’s sad, I’m in Japan and not reading manga…’cause I can’t….WAAAAAH)

So long as there's Natto on this planet, Japanese got no right to say jack to anybody about food.

Yeah, I think my From Far Away vol 5 comes in this week

XXX Holic looks interesting.

There are other's I'd like to read like Musashi #9, Vampiric Game, Angel Sanctuary, Seimaden, Model, Tramps Like Us, theWallflower, and WJuliet!!

But it's either them... or NDK in september.

I picked up a really great book from Korea.

The Missing White Dragon (A Park Young Ha Collection) published by Infinity Studios. It has all these short stories and all them relate to love. It's just so sweet!! But I wish they weren't just one-shots... they're really good!! I keep forgetting to order Bambi by the same author. I'm a sucker for sweetness...

Says the girl who reads Alichino and Sword of the Dark Ones.

I'm also reading Mouyou Kiden. It's a book by a former clamp member so it's in the similar style. I found Clamp's RGVeda, finally (was their first one). I wish they had finished The Legend of Chung Hyang, it look really good too.

Maybe I should buy a bookstore???? (yeah, right... with what money??)

I just recieved my first issue of Shojo Beat... but apparently I missed one issue!! Where's the beginning to Absolute Boyfriend?? *sniffles* I love Yuu Watase's books.... (Alice 19th, Imadoki, Ceres...)

*highfives Diana for manga-ness*

*also highfives Ameria and Duo, just cause*

I want to read Revenge of Mouflon, but I can't find it anywhere...and the company that printed it went out of buissness...HRM.

And I have the first volume of Iron Wok Jan! actually. I forgot to put it up there...crazy, fun stuff. Jan is a psycho and in any other anime he'd be the bad guy who shoots exploding minicows or something from his hands at the hero...and Kiriko's all cool and tough and everyone prepares food LIKE SUPERMAN with a blur of speedlines and stuff. Yay!

Iron Wok Jan was my first Cooking Manga (Before Yakitate, the Curry one which I was told not to read 'cause it's icky but I didn't listen and when Kuma sees this she'll kill me but it's not like it spanned more than one page, I just had to hit myself real hard to block the memory, and then watching Chuuka Ichiban) and it's the most BAD ASSSS!

I mean...

JAN.IS.*Insert word appropriate English word for 'KJBFJHJGHNUUUUH PSY-FRAKIN'-CHOTIC' here*

OMG he cooks BLOOD. For DESSERT.

If you never find Revenge of the Mouflon in a book place (I will KICK RAIJIN'S ASS when I find them, I subscribed to their weekly when it came out and then they JUST DIED, leaving all these GREAT stories hanging in Mid Air...I mean, Revenge of the Mouflon had JUST re-started and then ‘PPPTHTHT’) I'm sure enough digging around online will turn something up. I remember having a hard time finding it when it was still in print, I think it turned up in the middle of nowhere random bookstore #87. I mean...Little bookstores have the WEIRDEST things.....
It was like...Ranma, Ranma, Inuyasha...Ranma, DBZ #14, Ranma, REVENGE OF THE MOUFLON, Ranma, Inuyasha, Chobits, Ranma...

…….
WJuliet is like, one of the BEST gender benders EVER, that and Ouran Host Club.
Seriously...Those two are THE BEST gender bending jobs EVER.
Better than genders actually being Bended (Not that I'm Denying Cheeky Angel (Tenshi na Konamaiki) Maze, or Ranma's goodness, I'm just saying these are like...really unbelievably good)
Tramps like Us (Kimi wa Petto) while being a little raunchy (No more than some parts of ‘Duck Prince’, or ‘Your and My secret’), and geared more towards adults, is a very sweet story, but they're not like...Unrealistic.
The author VEY MUCH realizes people re people...And aren't saints.

Sweeping generalizations…>_>
I'm not too fond of Korean stuff, as usually, even if the people aren't badly designed, the stories themselves are just kinda...Slow....And nothing much interesting happens (In Korea's case, it's not just their Manga…My host mom's been Addicted to this REALLY slow and outlandishly boring Korean Drama (Their best) called Changumu (Or something) and like....
At least I know its not just the Manga.
Boring Korean drama's are REALLY popular in Japan, and ALL the stories are unrealistically dramatic, and SLOW. I mean, when they AREN'T slow, they' just push on without ever explaining what's happening, and like...expect you to just...KNOW.) Although that’s a trend, it's not true in ALL cases...like, there was this one manga, I.N.V.U, that was GREAT (Yay for squishy Shoujo...I mean, I found it a little boring, but not anymore boring than Japanese Shoujo....I mean. I’ll always be somewhat bored in times of squishyness, I've learned to enjoy it. So I.N.V.U is good...And I seem to remember there was a least a few more half decent ones..
'NOW' is not 'cause like...I tried to read it like...50 times, and never got anywhere...I don't know why it was boring...It JUST WAS.
I was frustrated at having no reason  for it being non-sticky...But I find that it's not the only one like that...And like...That's life....Happens with Koreans ones more Often...Like I.D....What the heck?....I wanted to read it...His hair is PRETTY, but it drove me NUTS.

But again, it's a trend. Soon the day will come where I won't get five pages in and go...'It's Korean huh'? (Because of the very...similar ways they manage to avoid telling us their stories....) and like…The world will become a better place with more people names ‘Jun’ and ‘Woo’.

I haven't seen this Musashi...Time to go look it up (I'm always up for Samurai....I mean..I'm assuming it's samurai...Taking names like Musashi....)

Yay, I SO want WJuliet, I'm glad to hear it's that good!!.  :D

(What about that other one... the one where the girl dresses up like a guy to be closer to the guy she likes...)

But again, it's a trend. Soon the day will come where I won't get five pages in and go...'It's Korean huh'?

I haven't seen this Musashi...Time to go look it up (I'm always up for Samurai....I mean..I'm assuming it's samurai...Taking names like Musashi....)

Ouch... great quote. But ouch.... so... they write as bad as me, then!?!? *hahaha* Trust me, I'm worse ;)

Musashi #9 is published in the states by CMX/DCcomics. I have no clue what the real name is. Actually, it's about a girl that becomes a secret agent or somethings. *blinks* I know, sounds odd, but I want to check it out.

The Sword of the Dark Ones was called "Ragnarok" overseas. However, there's another book of the same name. *blinks* I'm so confused...

The one where the girl dresses up to be closer to the guy she likes is ‘ Kill me Kiss Me.’
It's one of the more popular Gender benders in America, but no where near the best.
Actually...I didn't really like it. A little too over the top with drama and emotional crap (And the arts weird)
It didn't have much of a plot and I didn't think the love triangle was very well put together.

It's uh...Korean.....>_>......

I dunno, I don't really like ‘normal’ (Not querky) shoujo, if you do, then you'll probably like it.
Yeah, it's messily put together, but it might've gotten better. My shoujo fan friends liked it...for the most part. (It was half and half. And the ones that did pick it up weren't like...Insane about it...Except the one that was all insane for 'forgotten Dance' too...Which 。..Again...I didn't really enjoy...Honestly.,…She doesn’t have good taste….Zodiac P.I was the best. Zodiac P.I is good. Same enjoyment level as ‘saint Tail’ (Diana spews more ancient manga))
I dunno how much of it's 'I don't like normal shoujo' and how much of it is actually 'It's boring, even by shoujo standards.'
Lets just say…My friend, who runs this site stricly shoujo …Didn’t really care for it, and she likes ALL sorts of boring stuff.

I DO read shoujo, just....My favorite Shoujo are the ones that didn't want to be shoujo in the first place...>_< Yes, stories have their own minds....

Let me once again recommend Ouran Host Club and WJuliet.
Read both. Both differ greatly (They are NOTHING alike) and both are THE best shoujo gender benders.....That I've read yet. Same caliber as the KING of all gender benders, Hamakimi.

Girl Got Game doesn’t suck either, but get the others before you get that…..

Oooh, I Know which  Ragnarok 'ya mean,  (Not the One with the Cute little Detective loki) I had heard it was licensed as well, but I could never find it.
Now I know why.
Damn name changing.

There's also that Rangarok that came out a loooog time ago in America, and has the dude named Chaos and those girls with big boobs.
That was pretty boring.
But they called that Ragarok over here.

Both 'Ragnarok Loki' and 'Ragnarok changed name' are good, although for the mythical detective Loki one, I have to say that I liked the Anime a little better (It made more séance) the managka, as much as I love her, writes in a very confusing way. It's not that everything thing’s really jumpy, or that it's not continuous. It is.,...But like...I don't really know...Just, the way things re worded is hard to understand.
That and they don't really explain where things are coming from.

She also wrote Tactics。。。GREAT series. (Again, the anime made more sense).

I love both stories, and would recommend the manga, as, confusing as it is, is still really good.
Some people may just be going 'why don't I just watch the anime?' and that's because...Both the anime are very short...
VERY short.

Okay, both are 26 episodes (Standard) but Like, especially with Loki,...More TOTALLY happened.

I mean, I swore up down sideways, and across my spleen that there HAD to be a second season to Loki, as like...OMG how sold there NOT be?
I mean, things just left off tin the middle So what is XXXXx no longer hates XXXX XXXX and everyone’s all figured XXXXX, what about solving the whole problem? I mean, they didn't even start NOTHING changed! Nothings better, Ragnarok was NOT in any way prevented AAHHHHHH and what about XXXX getting XXX and stopping XXXX and XXXXX helping XXXXX and XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Tactics had a less...frustrating ending....and I suppose it actually counts as an ending, because things actually wrapped up a little. Although....there was no real closure. I think there might be more to the manga, although I could see it (Annoying as it would be) if it was just left there.
But that would be a little too annoying.

Anyway, about the other Ragnarok, it's supposed to be the best Ragnarok out there (What's with stuff around that time being dug up? Alchemy, Exorcism and Ragnorok has become STUPID popular in Japan right now. No, the Hagane (FMA) manga is no where near done.
I don't think it has the same ending as the anime (In fact, I'm pretty damn sure...As...if I were a famous managka, with a huge ass anime about my story out that only kinda followed the original way I had things, my ending wouldn't be anywhere near the same either. Manag editors tell managake to do it different anyway, to give the readers a choice and maybe some closure (If the anime finishes first).
And the Movie...Like...DUDE.

Where the heck did THAT come from (Oh heck, Ed's hair got prettier...Yay for angst)

I mean, there's D.Gray Man, FMA, Dark Valkyrie Alchemist(sp?), Ragnarok, Ragnarok, and Ragnarok, (Then there’s the game that spawned anime), and like...DEAR CHEESE NUGGESTS!

Yeah, so like...More manga that people should watch out for (My licensing predictions and things that will be coming out soon)

Death Note, same artist of Hikaru no go, but this time he's doing his own story.
Also the author of Ayatsuri Sakon (Which isn't licensed) he specializes in detective/horror and his art is GREAT.
It just keeps on getting better.
One of the artist I respect the most for clothes and faces.
Death Note falls into the horror category, but it's not lacking comedy or anything. It's following is frightening, and it spans a zillion volumes (More than Hikaru no Go., Speaking of Hikaru no go, the author and person with he original concept, Hotta Yumi,  is also working on a new manga、 Yuuta, about speed skating. Yes, she DOES loves obscure activities, and somehow makes them like, the most interesting things ever.

D.Gray man WILL be licensed soon. It's about Exorcism. The author has a gothic style, but it's not ugly like most. It's what I like to call Gothic Bubblegum (think of black cotton candy). The story is great, a little formula is the advancement, but great none the less.

Gintama should also be licensed soon. It’s just weird...And about Samurai on Scooter and Aliens.
The name is interesting though (I learned this from a scan where the author babbles on about stuff)
Apparently, he just wanted highschool girls to talk about Gintama.
Ginatama, the manga name means silver hair (Silver haired Samurai) but when you say it, without seeing it written down (Yay for insane kanji) people'll think your saying Kintama (Silver Balls) which is a dirty joke in Japan.
I've actually used it.
Ha ha ha ha.....My family was a little surprised, but hey, it made them forget they were mad a Tomo for coming home late.

Spiral, The manga, like the anime but better…..Although probably doesn’t make as much sense…..

Owy...Fingers they HURT.....Must STOP TYPING…..

Welcomeness! Always happy to have more fan-type people wandering around.
Tell us a little about yourself, and stick around and enjoy. We're a little crazy, and our rants get...long...But we’re a least almost all harmless.

And chocolate IS the best prop. I want pictures when 'ya do it.

And one more prediction, because I forgot:
Assabot Goku will (Might not be soon) get licensed (I feel the ‘licensing’ waves deep down inside). It's another take on the ancient tale 'Saiyuki' but they take this one to whooooool knew lengths. I mean....It's pretty much unrecognizable...Except the names....
So anyway, it's a favorite at the moment, and New type did an article at one point about it, years ago….(I think it was covering the anime...Maybe...I’ve never seen the anime...and I can't find it anywhere) and like.
It's just really good

If anyone's wondering, there's three ancient Chinese legends that MANY mangaka use to base there stories on. The most popular is Saiyuki...There's A LOT of Saiyuki take-offs. . If someone's named Goku, it's based on Saiyuki. You find a Sanzou and an Idiot? It's Saiyuki.
The three Legends are.....
Saiyuki ("Hsi Yu Chi"), Houshin Engi (Feng Shen Yan Yi), and...And...Uh...Was it Dragon ball? (I think it was...0_0...But I don't remember where I got my info and I can't find ANYTHING helpful though Google…Someone help me….) and all three tell things about China and unification and belief things.

Houhshin Engi's the depressing one (Hey, and this crazy man Ryu Fujisaki, made it into a manga with the same name, Houshin Engi, or Soul Hunter that spanned a bgzillion volumes (23). He's currently working on Waq Waq (OMG love) and a previous work is Sakuratetsu Taiwahen (I didn’t get it...Weird).

Saiyuki's the best known of the three, and the last which I’m probably wrong about has almost no actual info on it ( It's bugging me...WHERE DID I SEE IT?). Toriyama squished it all with 'Dragonball'.

Okay, I SWEAR I'm done now....I swear...

No really...

-Oh wait....

Just kidding, time for me to finish writing the 'recommendation post' I've been working on for two days.

O_o.....

There are a few manga series that I am completely obessing over right now...

Red River
Immortal Rain
Land of the Blindfolded
Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden
Basara
From Far Away

Has anyone else but me read these?? I'm starting to feel like a freak...

RED RIVER!!!  I am totally addicted!  Much better than Fushigi Yuugi, in my opinion, and that's saying a lot.
