You guys need to dismiss Ys 3 for the SNES, and the PS2 one (Ark) is "decent."
When people refer to Ys, it should be for "Ys Book 1 and 2" for the Turbo Grafix 16 CD (or PCEngine if you prefer).
Probably one of the... scratch that, its THE best early CD/mp3 based soundtracks in gaming history. The overall presentation (there's about 30 minutes of voice acting, and a colorful animated opening) is what makes a decent game into a landmark title.
