I thought some of you guys might appreciate this post:
Shortly after I got to Korea, I began watching Korean t.v. I was channel surfing along not really paying attention until I just passed channel 52. "Was that a group of zerglings?" I thought to myself incredulously. So I went back and discovered channel 52, MBC Game, a network devoted to professional gaming. This is the ESPN of the gaming world. They have comentators, sponsors, even a specific arena where the pros go to play on official computers before their cheering fans. They can only bring custom mice and keyboards -- and they all do. Almost all this channel shows is pro Starcraft (though there is the occasional Warcraft 3 and Counterstrike match), and these guys are good. You see these massive zergling battles take place with like thirty zerglings on each side every one moving back an forth in unison. The loss of a single zergling could tip the delicate balance of power for these professionals. Occasionally they show these gamers, in their uniforms, staring emotionlessly at the screen, which belies the speed of their clicking. Even the MLSL, the minor league of Starcraft, players are absurdly good. Truly, they are the apex of RTS playing.
